Mangrove Coasters

Grown in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, Mangroves, less known as Avicennia Marina, are considered to be an important element of UAE’s environment. They aid the ecosystem in three essential ways: by providing an exclusive habitat for multiple species of birds and marina fauna, acting as nursery grounds for fish and shellfish, as well as help lessen the effects of global warming and climate change.

Mangroves are also home to four petaled self-pollinating flowers which usually grow in a set of three.

Designed to shed light on the importance of these plants, the Mangrove Coasters are a modern take on the organic form of the petals. They draw inspiration from the organizational pattern the seeds form together before blooming and are presented as a set of three to represent the mangroves’ three most important ecological aids.
